No colour figures/photos/plates in my copy!

I have been looking for a good remote sensing text related to geology for a while. I thought this brand new printing would be exactly what I was after, lots of detail and thorough explanations with pictures and diagrams, and obviously updated since the first edition of 1991.

Unfortunately, I am sending this back after only an hour of it being in my hands as the section of colour plates that the text refers to is entirely in black and white/grey-scale, and other figures/photos/plates within the text with titles that descibe areas of interest in terms of colour shades and changes are also in black and white/grey-scale.

It is extremely frustrating to see something like a diagram of 'The concept of the Munsell clour circuit or wheel.' or an image of a copper porphyry with alteration zones described in colour appearance and find yourself looking at a grey-scale image. The frustration is that I can see that had the figures/photos/plates been in colour as described they would have been extremely useful and I would now be writing a rave review, it's such a pity !

The lack of colour sadly makes the book of little use as a reference or learning aid and certainly not worth the price in my opinion (US$239.00) although others might disagree. I hope the problem is my copy was a misprint or second but I suspect it wasn't.

The search for a decent text continues (unless this was just a misprint or second of course)....................

They are the joint founders of Arhont Ltd., a consultancy which offers a range of information security services, including auditing, monitoring and investigation. Arhont provides advice on information security to major companies and multinational corporations. Dr. Andrew Vladimirov is a security researcher. His fields of expertise include network security and applied cryptography, and he has extensive experience of performing information security assessments. Konstantin Gavrilenko has over 15 years of experience in IT and security. As a researcher, information security is his specialty, and he has a particular interest in wireless security. He holds a BSc in Management Science from DeMontfort University and an MSc in Management from Lancaster University. Andriej Michajlowski is an expert on network security. His research interests include user and device authentication mechanisms and wireless networking security. Five years later the recording is discovered by a new employee at the NSA. She is shocked when she listens to it. Her supervisor tells her to forget it. The supervisor tells her, her job is at risk if she doesn't forget about the recording. She decides the truth is more important than her job. She smuggles the recording out of the NSA. Returning home she posts it on the internet from a public library.

The Speaker of the House calls for debate on articles of Impeachment that include, a charge of second degree murder, lying under oath and treason. The President's supporters threaten a race war if Congress moves ahead with the Impeachment.

This book was a great jaunt into what reality SHOULD be.

This book is my dream come true and what honestly should happen to the current administration. The book gives alternative history that is a real joy to read. It gives you a sense of satisfaction from the ending of two dynasties of the Clintons and Obamas. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the ending was rushed and I did not get the full satisfaction the rest of the book gave me from seeing justice come to these people.
If you enjoy alternative history and ever have wondered about Obamas motives it is a excellent fiction that I believe is pretty close to true.

Arthur Versluis is the editor-in-chief of "Esoterica" and the founding president of the Association for the Study of Esotericism. He is the author of numerous books, including "Sacred Earth", "Restoring Paradise", "The New Inquisitions "and "The Secret History of Western Sexual Mysticism". He lives in Michigan where he is a professor of American Studies at Michigan State University.

Interesting Template for Exploring Greek Mystery Traditions

From the outset let me say that I am a fan of Arthur Versluis' work. Time and again he has synthesized large amounts of information and a large number of sources in works that make specialized and esoteric topics approachable. The current text follows that same impulse--ranging broadly in order to shed light on an esoteric topic.

On a less positive note, Versluis' publisher does him no favors in the Kindle version of this text (I have not examined the print version.). Numerous typos, misspellings, clearly mistaken wordings, and a lack of a proper and fully usable TOC mar the reading experience. Simply cleaning up the text in these basic ways would garner an additional star on my rating.

In summary, this is for me a four-star book presented in a two-star Kindle edition. A writer of Arthur Versluis' ability deserves much better.

A light-filled book

This richly inspiring book won me over even with its sub-title “The Secret Traditions of Indigenous Europe”. We are used to seeing the word “indigenous” applied to Australian Aborigines or Native Americans, but not to European peoples, except perhaps in a disparaging tone to refer to certain primitive populations who allegedly lived in a benighted state until civilisation arrived. Arthur Versluis’s book is a valuable corrective to this view. He writes that “it is vital that modern Europeans and those of European descent begin to recall their ancient origins and purpose once again, begin to recognize what extraordinary riches are ours”. These riches include the ancient sacred places of Europe, windows on to enchantment, where one can still sense the presence of the old gods, despite centuries of neglect and vandalism. The author takes us on a journey into the spiritual world view that created those sites. Starting point of the journey is the Greek island of Samothrace, one of the most potent sacred sites of the ancient world, with its Arcadia-like landscape and its Sanctuary, “reverberant with sacred authority”, scene of initiation into the Mysteries. These Mysteries, as the author explains, “were a venue, a means whereby human beings can be initiated into a double life; into this fleeting horizontally temporal life can be introduced the lightning bolt of the vertical divine”. Versluis goes on to explore the ancient gods (“all manifestations of the divine”) and some of the profound symbols and mythical motifs with which the world of the ancient Mysteries was filled: serpents, centaurs, twin figures like Castor and Polydeuces, the celestial mountain, the north as the land of eternal light, and the notion of the hieros gamos or sacred marriage. Altogether a most light-filled book, which gives me hope that the secret traditions of indigenous Europe have a future as well as a past.

Very simple and honest with no exageration.

As a 22 year verteran in the financial planning business I know that life insurance is one of the least understood and least appreciated assets classes. Unfortunately this is largely due to the people that sell it, stretching the truth and using half-facts. Patrick Kelly is a welcome change. In "The Retirement Miracle" Kelly does an excellent job in explaining the mechanics of both universal life and indexing. He feels no need for exageration and hyperbole.

I began reading the book one night when I couldn't sleep. I thought I would read a few chapters and go back to bed. I ended up reading it cover to cover before falling asleep. I give this book to all of my prospects that are considering an investment in IUL. My intention is not to "pre-sell" but to educate them on how the products work. This book does does both.

It would be a miracle

Although many of the themes in the strategy that the author is proposing are real retirement implications to consider, it just isn't as simple as he makes it out to be.
